Herd Sires
Red Flying K Max 159Y is a bull we own semen rights to and we continue to utilize his maternal contributions and probably will for some time. His daughters get better with age and many of them are found to be making their mark in producing sons in programs who have used him. His progeny are moderate framed and good footed. Daughters have productive and beautiful udders. Max passed in 2021 at 10 years of age.
We purchased Ridge Traveler 5412 from Sandbur Red Angus in 2016. He is a barely a 5 frame bull that is easy fleshing, deep ribbed, good footed and is an athletic, free moving bull. We are impressed with his first calf crop and feel that he is in line with our goals. Traveler passed in 2020.
Ridge Rad 9075 is a calving ease bull out of one of the top cows in the Sandbur Ridge program sporting a 99 BW ratio, 105 WW, 101 YW, 111 IMF and 104 REA. Ridge Casey 978-8034 is going on 15 years old and still in production. The Rad calves have performed well for growth and are above average in their carcass scan thus far for both marbling and ribeye.

Shoco Data 102 is a bull that we purchased in 2002. To this day he fits the needs of the efficiency-minded cattle industry. Data was moderate in frame and his daughter's are really functional and productive cows. He has proved his ability to transmit milk and strong-structured udders. His dam, VDAR Blackana 303 was an impressive, great uddered cow. We continue to use him AI in flushes and semen is limited.

Ridge Navigator 0039 was purchased from Sandbur Ridge Red Angus in 2021. It looks like he will sire calving ease with moderate growth and carcass traits, along with what we hope will produce a self-sustaining female. Calves this far are moderate in structure. His 14 year old dam (as of 2023), Ridge Hobo 016-9027 is a 5l Signature 5615 X Basin Hobo 196 combination that is the top-ranking cow in Sandbur Ridge's Cornerstone Cow Scoring program posting a 93 BWR, 108 WW, 107 YW, 131 IMF and a 99 REA with 12 natural calves to her credit on a 363-day calving interval.

Ridge Dimension 1010 AKA Ridge Body Builder 1010 was purchased from Sandbur Ridge Red Angus in 2022. His first calf crop looks to be very promising and his first females will go into production in 2025. This bull is structurally sound and has depth and volume like the Body Builder sons carry.

HRR Express 5142 was used in our herd until 7 years of age and then went on to another herd to continue his career. We will continue to use him AI. We valued the great feet, disposition and daughters that HRR Express 5142 sired for us. His Shoco Data dam, HRR Lakota 115 was a standout donor cow and has a string of exceptional daughters and grand-daughters in our herd.

RIDGE Avalanche 2051 is a new herd bull to Heart River in 2023. He is a dark red, Red RMJ Redman 1J son that is deep bodied, wide and attractive. We look forward to his first calf crop to be born in 2024.
5L Foreman 2174-370E is a spread bull that we used on heifers and cows but gives up little in the way of performance. His offspring typically are long sided, dark red and easy to look at. He sired the 2022 top selling female in the Nile Prestigious Red Angus Sale, HRR Mona 254. His calves perform and his EPDs are balanced across the board. The dispositions are good as well.
MLK CRK Steward 7334 is a moderate-framed, growth and carcass sire out of a proven cow, MLK CRK Thunder 751 coming from the Milk Creek Reds program. He ranks in the top 40% for the most indices and EPDs. Steward is a dark red, highly fertile sire whose calves are above average in performance, sound in their foot structure and have extra volume. His maternal granddam, HRR Thunder 751 was a cow we sold in the NILE sale that went on to be a donor dam for Milk Creek Reds.
RED RMJ Redman 1T is most widely known as the sire to RED Minburn Copenhagen 3Y. We had the chance to use Redman in a flush 10 years ago and really liked the daughters. They are really functional cows with great feet and good udders. We had a chance to purchase some of the last Redman semen on the market.
5L ZEUS 2777-125Z is an new AI sire introduced to the Heart River Ranch cowherd in the 2021 breeding season. He is a moderate 5L Legend 791-7065 son who goes back to OCC Legend 616L. We are looking forward to what this bull brings to the table.
MLK CRK Cub 722 was purchased in 1998 from Milk Creek Reds. He was really our foundation herd sire. Cub was a bull that is too big in our program today but he brought outstanding feet and legs to the table. In addition, he had a great disposition and stamped his calves with length of body and phenotype. He sired some great bulls like Ole's Oscar, Weber Doc Holiday. He was leased to Alta Genetics and was used extensively in Canada. He is used occasionally AI.
